General Information
The University of Kentucky Headache Center provides specialized care to patients suffering with headache.
The UK Headache Center is the only comprehensive headache clinic that has been accredited by UCNS in the state. It is one of only twenty centers in the country that provide advanced training in Headache Medicine to eligible physicians.
We use a multidisciplinary approach to evaluation and management of difficult to control headaches. If required, you will have access to caring physicians with expertise in Neurology, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Neurosurgery, Orofacial Pain, Interventional Pain, Plastic Surgery and ENT, who are skilled at evaluating a patient with refractory headaches. A myriad of options are utilized to bring about relief in a safe and cost effective manner using the most up-to-date evidence based guidelines. Should outpatient treatment fail, we utilize inpatient treatment with infusion therapy, when appropriate.
The Headache Clinic collaborates with national inpatient programs for patients with a persistent headache, including those dependent on analgesic medication that may require safe withdrawal from medications that put them at risk for rebound pain and dependency.
