Members of the Department of Neurology encompass all disciplines within the field of neurology providing a level of expertise unsurpassed in this region of the United States. Among the disciplines represented are epilepsy, stroke, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, neuroinfectious disorders, nerve and muscle disorders, pediatric neurology, headache, neurorehabilitation, and neurotoxicology. Many of the faculty are world-renowned and have active federally funded studies.
We pride ourselves in providing superb clinical care and excellent teaching. We are also very proud of the research endeavors within the Department that are advancing our understanding of disease processes and their treatments.
The Kentucky Neuroscience Institute integrates the expertise of UK's neurology and neurosurgery physicians and researchers. KNI is a regional referral center dedicated to providing comprehensive care to our patients.
UK Neurology provides diagnostic evaluation, treatment and management for conditions related to the central and peripheral nervous systems (brain, spine and all extremities). As part of the multidisciplinary team at the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute, our neurology specialists now work with neurosurgeons and orthopaedic specialists to diagnose and treat complex neurological and neuromuscular diseases such as Parkinson's disease, ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) and stroke.
